I’ve always said that cosplay and conventions are my opportunities to escape reality, but now it IS my reality. While in college for graphic design, I became a cosplayer. After finishing school, instead of pumping up my portfolio and making interview rounds, I took a gamble working for a friend at her small, new costume commission shop. After this, I got a full time job working for Cosplay.com which includes administration work and traveling the world for cosplay. Many times I thought I should quit playing around with my hobby and get a “real job” that I went to school for. But the more I kept making costumes, the more opportunities I received. I’m really happy I chose the less conventional route that has lead me to a job that doesn’t feel like work – one that I absolutely love.
I have traveled to Japan, Spain, Germany, Italy, Chile, Mexico, and the U.K. for cosplay – some pics and other randomness below. :)
