No. Pets were unallowed in my house growing up. I always loved dogs and always wanted one. I never realized how deep this longing was until I was going through my old stuffed animals recently, and realized that I had named all of them after various neighbors' dogs around our block. How heartbreaking is that? I really, really like animals. One day I want one, but I'm pretty irresponsible and I think I would kill it unintentionally. I don't think I could be trusted to walk a dog everyday and train it to be enjoyable to be around. Maybe I could have a cat, since they pretty much take care of themselves.

To get the greatest student-eye/teacher-nostril ratio, cast your gaze outside the windows upon Harold the goose, flying at a steady 10 mph at a 30º angle parallel to the windows in a 15 mph NW wind. I was going for a gemstone theme, but JiaGem could be easily mispronounced. o_O Hence "Jem". Gemstones are pretty, but only because they are painstakenly carved that way and are some of the worlds toughest substances. I thought that was an appropriate metaphor. But YES, I agree - Aja was my favorite, too! I still have my Aja doll and the cassette tape she came with! I'm a Jem fan, love the 80's... so I guess it works on all levels! EDIT: After visiting Mexico, I found it funny to hear my name pronounced "Yia Yem". Funny bad. But too late now.
