Scootaloo :: My Little Pony
I’m a little late to the new MLP craze, but I can accurately say I was WELL around for the original craze. >__> But no, that doesn’t stop a full-grown woman from dressing like a prepubescent girl. I mean, isn’t that the unspoken true definition of cosplay? Anyway, Scootaloo was my favorite when I watched the whole series, because she is all my favorite neon colors (look at my logo, hullo) and has a rad mohawk. Instalove. The mohawk translated into a 60’s mod ‘do for my version, but that is the beauty of interpretation.
Since she is super fast and zips around on her scooter, I wanted to give her a mod 60’s vibe, a la Trixie from Speed Racer or Haruko from FLCL. The pattern for the dress is Simplicity 2927, with no major alterations made except to add darts to the bust because I sewed it without doing a mock up. Whoops. :B I made her a little scarf that gives homage to her bike helmet that’s purple with 2 white stripes. The wig is a Cosplay.com Scruffy in Hot Pink. The wings are made out of craft foam and felt, and I’ll have a new tutorial up shortly! :)
